The Canonical URL Tag – Big Step for SEO

18 ,February, 2009 From Ohad Marom

What is a Canonical URL Tag?

Every SEO expert knows that one of the biggest problems we face is duplicate content. When there are two different URLs for one page, the search engine is never clear on how to treat them. It has to decide which page to show for a specific keyword, which page to give the PageRank to and which page to consider as the main authority. It may also divide the authority and page rank, an action that will only take away from the page you’re trying to promote. Read More »

Google Ads Introduces Hard Alcohol and Liqueurs

9 ,December, 2008 From Ohad Marom

Google AdWords blog announced a change in policy regarding the advertisement of hard alcohol and liqueurs. A few months ago Google allowed advertising beer in Google AdWords, and now the ads have expanded to hard alcohol and liqueurs. The one stipulation that Google has is that the ads be used for branding and marketing exposure only, and they should not be used for the purpose of selling directly.

Wordcamp 2008 – Israel SEO & Wordpress – Slides

17 ,November, 2008 From

Yesterday I had the privilege of being invited and to speak at Wordcamp Israel 2008. I was asked to give a presentation about optimizing your Wordpress blog for SEO. To tell you the truth, what I thought would be a pretty easy subject matter, turned out to be very hard to fit into 20 minutes. What started off as a big explanation of SEO add-ons for Wordpress and linking and keyword research, turned into something much more simple. Read More »

Wordpress Marketing – SEO for Wordpress Blogs

15 ,September, 2008 From

Wordpress has already proven itself as the most agile and customizable CMS and blog platform presently available. It’s easy to use, it’s open source, and as a blogger, I couldn’t ask for more than that (well I could but some things just don’t come packaged in CMS’s right?). However, it’s very important to consider the SEO and marketing aspects of using this platform for your website or blog. Read More »

Finally selected a new email marketing platform for CWM!

24 ,August, 2008 From

It’s been tedious researching the almost infinite options available for email marketing platforms, however I’ve yet selected the one that fits CWM requirements.

I’ll show you an example to better compare the main differences between the two main models: the first will charge you for quantity of emails sent, and other that will charge you a fee for the amount of registered users.

Example: I have to send 4 newsletters a month to my 10,000 users listing.

Model 1: I have to pay for 40,000 sent emails.
Model 2: I’ll pay for the 10,000 users, on despite of the amount of newsletters I send.

With the Model 2, I can theoretically send a new broadcast every day and I’ll still pay a flat fee for my 10,000 users only… do your math and calculate how much will it cost with the first option… is it clear which is the method I selected?

Of course it’s not that simple; you must consider other details among value for money like: data safety, deliverability, technology, reporting and a customer support. I recommend you taking a look at GetResponse.

The Top 3 Questions you should ask yourself before a post goes up

Alright so after a little bit of coercion and reminding people that contracts were up for renegotiation soon (aren’t they always?), I’ve got people writing and landing posts on my desk for review. After reading them, I keep asking myself the same questions:

- Is it any good?

- Will anyone benefit from this post?

- Are they just trying to get me off their backs by giving me this?

- Why did I get myself into this… Read More »

Setting up a Company Blog or is that The joys of Childbirth?

21 ,August, 2008 From

Well here’s the thing. I was under the impression that people working in an SEO agency would hear about us finally setting up an English language blog and jump at the opportunity. You see, we spend a lot of time preaching and recommending to our clients the benefits of blogging and we don’t preach it in order to charge our clients more, but because we truly believe their voices have a place. And given that place, their voices can become a great channel to communicate with peers in the industry, to become a reference, to give their opinions and even eventually even generate leads.
